Civilization Mods For Civ 5

Leader: Nebuchadnezzar IIA vanilla civ, used by TPangolin to observe the game in progress. Exists as a single submarine hidden in Antarctica, which other civs cannot interact with.: Existed in a submarine from day one, when everyone else on the cylinder was still trying to figure out how spears work.: Only takes action to fix bugs, and otherwise just observes.: Babylon's spies frequent various world capitals, and report back on leaders' plots against one another. The spies are Em, Ishtar, and Semiramis. Capital: IvvavikA mod created by Colonialist Legacies.: For North America, or at least characterised as such; they are popularly referred to as the White Walkers.: Tied in with. Lands controlled by the Inuit are described as un-seasonally cold, regardless of location.: Obviously.

Averted in the later eras, where the Inuit became one of the most high-tech civs.: Got killed by Brazil easily after having been seen as the big bad of America for so long, bonus points for just having finished crushing the Blackfoor.: Nobody is sure if they're even human at all.The Blackfoot. Capital: Port RoyalA mod created by More Civilizations. The Buccaneers were at one time, one of the top superpowers of the cylinder, almost entirely due to the extremely aggressive behavior of Henry Morgan's AI. The Buccaneers engaged in a series of brutal nuclear wars ranging from South America to Europe to Northern Africa, creating a transcontinental pirate empire. His reckless boldness and the success of his unsustainable war machine made the Buccaneers a fan favorite, despite the obvious fact that Henry Morgan was overextending himself and that his navy consisted largely of useless aircraft carriers. Eventually, several nations including the Boers declared war on them, taking back most of the Buccaneer holdings.

Nowadays, the remnants of the Buccaneer state still survives in the Caribbean where they started, though being boxed in by the Inuit and Brazil doesn't make any future expansion easy for them.: Arguably the main protagonist of the BR for a while. Until they started a nuclear war in Mali.: Obviously.: After they caused a nuclear holocaust in Mali.: Henry Morgan's conquest of Northern Africa placed him at the doorstep of the Boers, the most powerful nation on the Cylinder with a military force of futuristic units that far outclassed his. Capital: Rio de JaneiroCiv V's vanilla incarnation of Brazil.: One of the friendlier nations of the game, but he made an very brutal conquest of Chile.

And South America. And the Middle East. And the entire continent of Africa which had the Boers. It's safe to say they're no longer the nice ones indeed.: With the Inca.

Until it ended.: Before the hiatus, they were considered one of the least likely powers to win due to their geographical isolation. After the hiatus. Well, not so much.: A culture oriented vanilla Civ with no particular biases for warfare and a start widely ridiculed as too isolated. Ends up conquering all of South America, most of Europe, the Middle East and India, and then replaces the Boers as sole ruler of Africa. God- damn.: His late-game bonuses turned out for the better due to the lesser population loss from city captures.: To Sweden. The Swedes had spent most of their wars as the eternal foes of their neighbors Iceland to the west and Sibir to the east.

They had managed to fight both civs to a standstill in two-front wars twice and managed to come out mostly unscathed. Then Brazil, a civ from a different continent altogether, came along and easily conquered most of Sweden's European lands. No one saw it coming.: Goes from taking control of their real life territory, to killing off the rest of South America sans the Buccaneers, to conquering most of Swedish Europe, unite the Middle East, before finally kicking the Boers out of Africa.:. They were overshadowed by the Buccaneers and the Chileans for sometime due to their lackluster bonuses, until they killed Chile off and pushed the Buccaneers off South America. They rivaled Korea as the most successful Vanilla civs.

They took another — or several —- levels in badass after the hiatus, when they suddenly started to pump out so many military units that they started flooding into virtually every corner of the world, easily eclipsing the military size of other frontrunners like the Boers and Inuit. Then, along with Iceland, Sibir, Vietnam and the Kimberley they declared war on seemingly invincible Boers and captured most of west Africa and India with ease.

It's a turning point in the whole game, making Brazil seemingly the most powerful civ alive.: Since total war has been declared, Brazil's main strategy has been to overwhelm the enemy lines with Xcoms and infantry, while using almost no artillery and planes whatsoever. This has worked fairly well because of Brazil's huge production advantage and wonder bonuses, but it came with a large amount of casualties as well.

Capital: HelsinkiA mod created by Hypereon.: Exclavia after they were crippled by Sweden.: By the time Sweden declared war on them their armies were mostly spent.: Or evil, depending on your perspective. Their quirk being a fondness for exclaves.: They had an infamous habit of grabbing random cities many tiles away from their homeland, even going as far as to eliminate The Mughals all the way in India.: They were reduced to three small exclaves hundreds of miles away from their old territory after their war with Sweden. Capital: ParisA partially modded variation on the vanilla Civ V France by JFD and Janboruta.: The AI's incompetent handling of France makes Napoleon (constantly failing to take the English mainland city of York, mass casualties in Orleans in several wars againt the much weaker England, losing the German conquest of Cologne to Portugal and never recuperating it, and declaring a fatal war against a much more powerful country) come off this way.: Downplayed. While they were fairly active early on, after their elimination of England, they did basically nothing.: Declared war on the much more powerful Iceland. Capital: CarthageA modded Carthage by JFD and Janboruta.: While fighting a war against Sparta and Ethiopia, they easily held off Sparta, until they took Bilbais, allowing the much stronger Ethiopian army a land route through their empire. Needless to say, things went poorly for them thereafter.: Carthage fought several successful wars because of tactical superiority, most notably against the Ayyubids, despite being behind in tech.: Averted, Carthage in the CBR never fought Rome despite being next door neighbours.

Capital: PretoriaA mod created by Colonialist Legacies. The Boer Ryk is the effective Hyperpower of the cylinder. After gaining the tech lead, the Boers snowballed, taking over most of Africa and eventually Iberia. While other superpowers such as the Inuit and Australia have grown in might to rival them, they maintained the No. 1 spot on the rankings, and no civ or combinations of civs in the game stands readily able to defeat them in their current state. Until Brazil came along.: The Boers created the wonder, which coated their lands with a toxic xenofungus that was harmless to their robot bodies, but hostile to outsiders.

(In effect, it had the same ability as the Great Wall, but as a permanent bonus) During the reboot, the Babylonians decided to remove the mutagen, afraid of the effect it might have on the rest of the world. (It was removed because the mutagen dragged down the already inefficient AI movement to a crawl, and made the Boers almost impossible to successfully invade by any AI opponent.) As a moment of or, this removal ends up dooming the Boers to conquest by Brazil.: To some, though this role is sometimes taken over by the Inuit. Now taken by Brazil.:. The second Orange Containment Project, led by Brazil, handed the Boers their first decisive military defeat and resulted in them losing most of West Africa and all of India, which they had just conquered from Vietnam. And then it got worse; Brazil, who were until the second OCP regarded as a joke vanilla Civ, ends up being the ones to kick them out of Africa.: They used to be one of the greatest civilizations in the game and used to own pretty much the entire African continent, the Middle East, parts of Asia, along with the Mediterannian borders. But then come Brazil and within just a few parts, they systematically and relentlessly conquered every single one of their cities to the point that by the time Brazil have finally decided to make peace, they only controlled four cities, each around the desolate land of Antartica.

Everything from the second OCP onwards.: Like the other huge nations, the Boers are actually extremely poor in their gold income. Not that this stops them from dominating their enemies.: The Boers are often depicted as robots or cyborgs with jetpacks in comparison to other civ mascots. Not to mention, they are also the home of, which gives their entire military a slight combat boost.: Despite their knowledge of future technologies, the Boers were initially unable to build future era improvements due to incompatibility between their special worker unit and the Future Worlds mod. This was fixed in a later patch by manually replacing all the special Boer workers with regular workers.: As the premier Autocracy state in the world, the Boers field advanced wonder weapons the like of which the Nazis could only dream of.: Brazil kicked them off Africa in Part 108. All they had after that was a few outlying cities around the Antarctican colonies.

There's no hope for them left. Capital: LhasaA mod created by More Civilizations. While once a contender for East Asia, the Tibetans were eventually reduced to a single rump state smack in the middle of Vietnam. Despite fielding an army of riflemen and foreign legions which would die instantly against any of the Vietnamese future world units, the Vietnamese have decided to keep them around for one reason or another, acting as a protective buffer against the other hostile superpowers of the cylinder, all of whom desperately want Lhasa dead.

Tibet also stands as one of the remaining Freedom nations in the game, though the Statue of Liberty was taken by Vietnam long ago.: Tibet is actually obscenely rich in its gold income, with a treasury far exceeding any of the premier world superpowers. A prevailing theory as to why Vietnam doesn't destroy them is that Lhasa can only reach Vietnamese cities with its trade routes, and thus trades solely with them.

The theory goes that the Vietnamese gain more gold from trading with Lhasa than they do by taking the city for themselves.: Tibet was reduced to just Lhasa for a long time before finally being conquered by Vietnam. The main reason it managed not to get conquered may be it being almost completely surrounded by mountains, making capturing it more trouble than it's worth.: Lives in peace with its warmonger neighbors.: One theory as to why the Vietnamese government prefered to keep them around. Capital: SeoulCiv V's vanilla incarnation of Korea.: To the Vietnamese.: They are one of the few science-focuses civs in the BR - then they seized a chance to invade and take most of Northern Vietnam. After a long buildup, they waged war against Yakutia, and won.: To the Japanese.: Korea and Japan can be argued as this.: In a way it can often be seen that Korea in CBR was like a brother to Japan, as it always was there whenever Japan was getting harmed by her 'neighborhood' bullies.: Korea's significant science bonuses have kept them in the running despite having much less territory than the main front-runners. Their rankings skyrocketed once they defeated Yakutia. Capital: TokyoA modded Japan by JFD and Janboruta.: They were resurrected by another civ at the outbreak of total war, albeit only as a city state due to how the reboot handled dead civs.: Has been reduced to Osaka for a long time.: As stated previously, Japan can easily be seen as this to Korea due to having to rely on the Koreans to ensure their survival.

Of course despite Japan being kept 'alive' by Korea, she eventually died permanently once Korea didn't have the power to liberate it. But regardless it is truly amazing how Korea tried to keep Japan alive as long as possible and protect it from any enemies, and honestly that is very much the definition of this trope.: With Korea, possibly the only instance of two countries getting along better in the Battle Royale than in real life. Capital: SydneyA mod created by Colonialist Legacies.: To the Kimberley and now the Vietnamese.: Controls the largest empire by total area, which stretches across the Pacific Ocean.: Once one of the cylinder's most feared and civs (to the point where some people jokingly accused the Australian-born Tpang of rigging the game in their favor), their expansion has hit some major setbacks. They lost Sri Lanka and the northern Philippines to Vietnam, Tokyo to Korea and all their American holdings to native civs. Time will tell if they can still pull of a continental invasion or whether they will go the way of the Boers.
