That's why when people using live or flstudio have to work on a daw like cubase, open a midi event, and go 'wow, look at these thousands of midi features, + midi logic editor'. And then they click on a wave file, have all the variaudio working, the audiowarp, the slices, the hit detection on import. And thousands other audio features, and again go 'wow. This is no joke'. It becomes hard to go back to the other daw.On the other hand, what makes daws like live great, is its simplicity and ease of use. Even a beginner can quickly start layering samples, and creating the different music parts, arrangments.Ableton devs might not give you the features everybody needs. But at least, between a 10.0 and 10.9.9, there will be a bunch of new features, even huge additions, totally free.

Whereas steinberg, will call a simple plug-in reskin 'a new feature', and will ask money for thatNothing is ever perfect.But I'm sure the 40 or 50 guys that want to try ableton live. The reason I'm debating this is because not only does ableton have some cool things that are missing in FL is there is something about FL I find really clunky. Warping is great, and i use it sometimes for melodic bits i cant otherwise fit, else most stuff is left unwarped and chopped/aligned better. I'm pretty quick and chopping vocals and stuff up so isnt a hassle, but sound quality of unwarped hits (even warped hits with the pro setting rather than beats still sounds a bit off).

But yeah you might love that.No i'm not saying that, what i am saying is this. I spent a lot of time working with break loops, being a bit lazy bitd using warp. Sounded fairly good still, but when i stopped doing that and then sliced the unsliced break in to drum rack simplers, the sounds of my 'breakbeating' messing instantly just sounded much clearer. A lot of that was basically cause working in midi i was then able to let hits ring out more, rather than stopping as soon at the next warp marker kicked the next transient in.I still use it though, i find for occasional melodic bits and sometimes vocals i have gotten away with. It's just that when it does stretch, the unstretched vs stretched comparison i've done generally sounds better to me unwarped cause you arent killing transients.really up to you though, warp till your hearts content:). Click to expand.Yeah to me, it sounds worse using warp on hits then loading them in to drum rack hits warped.to get a break in time i do what said above, unwarped (perhaps pre pitch break up to a closer speed). Then i cut it to hits to load on my drum rack (each cell being a simpler so i can adjust things like start /end etc). Then i use midi to line the now really tight hits up instead. I can then pitch things up independently, copy paste my midi pattern and rearrange that quickly for variation.etcIT's not the recommended way of working, only how i do it.
